NITTO OPTICAL has been technologically involved in the field of cameras since its establishment.

Cameras can be roughly classified into digital cameras and traditional film cameras. Digital cameras are further classified into digital single-lens reflex cameras with exchangeable lenses and digital compact cameras.

Photos taken by digital cameras can be seen immediately on the liquid crystal displays, easily processed and saved/stored by various methods. So, the demand for digital cameras has rapidly increased every year. Film cameras have now lost the lead to digital cameras and demand for film cameras has decreased. In the future, some film cameras will remain for professional photographers and diehard camera buffs who favor high performance cameras, and for low end models that can be easily used during journeys.

Recently, glass penta prisms have been reconsidered to use for high-level digital single lens reflex cameras again, because they widen the angle of view of the viewfinders and are able to make objects look brighter. NITTO OPTICAL has been providing penta prisms for viewfinders of digital single lens reflex cameras since the establishment and NITTO OPTICAL has provided technology and quality that always satisfy customers requirements for high end cameras. NITTO OPTICAL has also supplied high precision prisms with the keywords "Small/light/thin" to digital camera manufacturers that have adopted flexion type zoom lens units in compact digital cameras.

Furthermore, NITTO OPTICAL supplies optical parts for digital video cameras (camcorders).
NITTO OPTICAL handles dichroic prisms of 3 plates type, etc. that resolve the colors of red, green and blue and that have been mainly adopted for 3CCD-sensors.
