: Diffraction Gratings

 

Grating

The Diffraction Grating is a reflecting or transparent element, whose optical properties are periodically modulated. Most commonly the diffraction gratings are realized as fine parallel and equally spaced grooves or rulings on material surface. When light is incident on a diffraction grating, diffractive and mutual interference effects occur, and light is reflected or transmitted in discrete directions, called diffraction orders.

Etalons

 

 

 

Etalons are typically made of a transparent plate with two reflecting surfaces, or two parallel highly-reflecting mirrors. These transmission spectrums as a function of wavelength exhibit peaks of large transmission corresponding to resonances of the etalon. NITTO OPTICAL produces optical elements compatible with KrF/ArF lasers.

Fabry-perot Etalon

Fabry-perot Etalon is an optical element that has multiple reflections. Two parallel high reflectance planes (optical flat) are set by specific spacers in parallel. A reflection coating corresponding to the wavelength is deposited on the reflecting surface. It is used for fiber optics in narrow-band filters and semiconductor lithography equipment such as excimer lasers, etc.

Solid Etalon

: Optical Flat

 

 

This is a high-precision parallel plate type Etalon. It is used for DFB laser wavelength lockers for Fiber Optics. High finesse characteristics in Free Spectral Range (FSR) are achieved by high precision technology of controlling thickness, parallelism, and surface flatness.

Polyimide Substrate Filter

 

 

 

High heat resistance Polyimide materials are used for multi-layer filter substrates. Ultra-thin filter can be produced with the Polyimide substrate thickness of 6-10µm.

Substrateless Filter

: Substrate-less Filter

 

 

Substrateless Filters are used for multi-layer filters. Filters with no optical coupling loss can be manufactured.

This MLA product can only be made either with Fused Silica or Silicon(Si) materials. Fused silica has excellent heat resistance and has also good characteristics for UV (ie. i-line) bands. Silicon has advantage over light bands for optical communication and that over IR due to its high refractive index.
